Tribune Story

Detained President Joseph Estrada's lawyers scored a major victory when they proved beyond reasonable doubt that the testimony of former Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis "Chavit" Singson and his two witnesses who corroborated his claims of having delivered to Estrada in his Polk Street home the amount in cash of P130 million in tobacco excise tax money, in 1998 was a complete fabrication and that they perjured themselves.

This was proved by the defense lawyers led by former Sen. Rene Saguisag, following a hearing and an actual demonstration at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) along Roxas Boulevard, Manila.
