An elderly man who said he was a former soldier of Japan's Imperial Army from the Second World War is escorted by a policeman to a safehouse in a farming Malungon town near General Santos city in southern Philippines. Japanese officials and media rushed to the southern Philippines late last week after a Japanese man promised to set up a meeting with two elderly men who would be the first Japanese cases in 30 years of war-time stragglers being found.
